Tomorrow, 06.29.07 marks the kickoff of the 3rd Annual Afropunk Festival in Brooklyn.  The festival runs until 07.07.07 with a number of different concerts and events throughout Brooklyn including Southpaw and the BAM MetroCafe.  There will be performances from tons of different musicians including DJ Rich Medina, CX Kidtronic, The Drugstore Cowboys and Whole Wheat Bread.  Visit the Afropunk website for complete details on the lineups for each day.

Although the entire festival looks cool, I’m looking foward to the screening of the film Afro-Punk which is a 66 minute documentary which addresses issues like interracial dating, black-power and loneliness.  Best of all, Afro-Punk features performances by Bad Brains, Tamar Kali, Cipher, and Ten Grand. It also contains exclusive interviews by members of Fishbone, 24-7 Spyz, Dead Kennedys, Candiria, Orange 9MM and TV on the Radio.
