Brooklyn Bodega, the team behind the annual Brooklyn HipHop Festival have announced the first confirmed act for the 5th annual festival taking place at Empire Fulton Ferry State Park on 06.20.09. Fittingly, Brooklyn’s own Smif N Wessun have been announced as the first official confirmed act for the day. As always, the event is free but a $10 donation is strongly encouraged to help support all the efforts put in. Donations are already being accepted for those looking to get advance tickets early. More groups and artists are to be confirmed over the next several weeks.

Speaking of Smif N Wessun, General Steele (one half of the group) is releasing his forthcoming Welcome To Bucktown project on 05.05.09 and is also the first release on Steele’s Bucktown USA imprint.  Tek and Steele will also soon be releasing the next Smif N Wessun LP which will be entirely produced by Pete Rock.
