New Year’s Eve 2008 Show & Party Guide
12.19.2007New Year’s Eve is less than two weeks away and I’ve only mentioned two parties so far. The Rub are at Southpaw. Prince Paul is at the Delancey (tickets are now on sale for $15). Below are the rest of your options for the night if you are looking to go out without spending $150+ for a club ticket. All are 21+.
Studio B: Studio B’s New Year’s Eve Celebration features Slick Rick, Kudu, Holy Ghost!, Jacques Renault, The Bangers, Eamon Harkin as well as DJ sets from Moby and Frankie Bones. King Stampede & Boundless NY Present “If It Ain’t Rough It Ain’t Right!” in the Chandelier Room with special guests (see flyer). Advance tickets are $20; $30 at the door. There is a huge lineup for this and the party goes all night starting at 8:00 PM and ending at 8:00 in the morning (even a $10 AM entry for those arriving after 5:00 AM).
Sputnik: Evil Dee and The Beatminerz do their Thursday party on NYE with more guests expected to be announced. Tickets are $15 at the door.
Triple Crown: Triple Crown hosts their 4th New Year’s Eve Jam with The Original Jazzy Jay and Large Professor. No ticket info is available on their website but they do say they are going fast.
205 Club: Club 205 or 205 Club, what’s the real name of this place? Crashin’ In is presenting 12 Hour Party People, another all night party with a legnthy bill. Plenty of DJs spin throughout the night including Negroclash’s Duane Harriot and Prince Language. Oil, Eamon Harkin, Mike Simonetti, Brodinski, Dan Selzer, Elliott Golden and Sunnyside Up complete the DJ lineup for this Crashin’ In party brought to you by Filter, Mean Red and Insound. The night also includes live performances from Purple Crush, Beans (Anti Pop Consortium) and Thecocknbullkid. Layout for the night is the live music and some DJs upstairs with all dance DJs spinning downstairs. $20-30 cover at the door depending what time you get there.
Irving Plaza (The Fillmore): They are advertising this show as an easy option to crowded clubs in New York. Promoters didn’t organize many big concerts this year which may be why there is no live music going on here, a space that always has something on New Year’s. DJs will be spinning 80’s, rock, hip-hop, and mash-ups. (Cipha Sounds will be DJing on one of the levels) Tickets are $25 for general admission although table and drink packages are available if you call.
Rebel: Rebel’s party is a bit more expensive than your other options but it has two good things going for it, DJ Brooklyn Dawn spins and for the $85 ticket you get a 6 hour open bar from 9:00 PM - 3:00 AM which is cheap for Manhattan. Scott Melker also DJs; tickets available through JoonBug.
Love: To little surprise, Love’s party will feature Aaron LaCrate along with DJs Jesse Marco, DJ Vibe, and Max Barbaria. There will also be live performances from Daniel Merriweather, Team Facelift, and Daytona. Tickets are $75 which includes an open bar from 10-midnight and 3:00 - 4:00 AM.
Madison Square Garden: Chris Rock has a standup show at The Garden and Jill Scott has been confirmed as the opener. Tickets start at $49.50 and go up to $129.
