All Points West Festival 2009 Lineup

4.1.2009

Goldenvoice/AEG have announced the initial lineup for this year’s All Points West Festival which takes place for the second straight year at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ. The three day festival site will hold three different stages with music all day from 07.31.09apwlineup - 08.02.09. So far the confirmed acts for each day include:

07.31.09: Beastie Boys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Vampire Weekend, The National, Fleet Foxes, MSTRKRFT, Q-Tip, The Pharcyde, Organized Konfusion, The Knux, Ra Ra Riot, Seasick Steve, Telepathe, Shearwater, Heartless Bastards, Flying Lotus, College Humor Live, Arj Barker, Eugene Mirman and Bo Burnham.

08.01.09: Tool, My Bloody Valentine, Gogol Bordello, Arctic Monkeys, Neko Case, The Ting Tings, Yelle, Crystal Castles, St. Vincent, Tokyo Police Club, The Cool Kids, Kool Keith, Cage the Elephant, Chairlift, White Rabbits, Electric Touch, The Postelles, Black Gold, College Humor Live, Tim & Eric, Judah Friedlander and Jim Jeffries.

08.02.09: Coldplay, Echo & The Bunnymen, MGMT, The Black Keys, Elbow, Silversun Pickups, Mogwai, We Are Scientists, Ghostland Observatory, The Gaslight Anthem, Etienne De Crecy, Lykke Li, Akron/Family, Steel Train, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, College Humor Live, Janeane Garofalo, Michael Showalter and Todd Barry.

This is a pretty good lineup although definitely heavier on the indie rock tip. Good to see Flying Lotus in the mix and they come through with Beastie Boys, Q-Tip, and Kool Keith. Still, The Roots Picnic will wear the crown for now with the better lineup. Tickets for APW are $89 a day or $199 for a full 3-day pass…which is somewhat reasonable with the big rock names on the lineup like Coldplay, Tool, and Arctic Monkeys.

it’s hard to top back-to-back nights of Radiohead, but I’m pretty stoked to see My Bloody Valentine and Beastie Boys. anyone heading out should definitely listen to Black Gold (myspace.com/blackgold) beforehand too - they’re one of my fave new bands this year and will help add to the earlier-in-the-day fun! :)
