I have been seeing the name Amanda Diva around a lot lately but know relatively nothing about her.  According to her bio “the singer/rapper/jill-of-all trades has endured several years in the music industry with jobs ranging from spoken word poet (Def Poetry Jam) to journalist to radio music host and even representing Hip-Hop as a talking head on VH1’s humorous series “Best Week Ever.”  The tracks I heard on her myspace are pretty chill; she has a nice flow that comes off smooth mixed with some soulful singing here and there.  Amanda Diva will be performing solo at S.O.B.’s on 03.12.08 along with guest opener Peter Hadar.  While the flyer only advertises the two for the show, her myspace also lists Talib Kweli as the evening’s host and that special guest Q-Tip will be coming through to perform ‘40 Emcees,’ the track that he collaborated with Amanda Diva on.  With Tip and Kweli in the house you’d imagine that some other cool shit is bound to happen.  Tickets are $12 in advance/$15 at the door, however it doesn’t look like advance tickets are up yet on ticketmaster.
