Hip Hop 1942: Swing Street to Swing Beats

2.16.2009

Revive Da Live’s latest installment of the Flagship Series continues on 02.27.09 when they present ‘Hip Hop 1942: Swing Street to Swing Beats.’ The series kicked off in November and welcomed in a number of guests musicians and emcees. Their second presentation atevolutionflyer Le Poisson Rouge follows in the same footsteps as their previous events.

“In this event, we are featuring some of the best jazz musicians featuring very special guest MC’s and DJ’s along with SURPRISE GUESTS! Revive Da Live brings you back to the 1940’s Jazz scene in NYC showcasing popular Jazz Standards from the “Swing Era”. The particular standards being performed were later used to inspire popular songs in Hip Hop. Witness these transitions between popular Jazz Standards of the 1940’s into popular songs in Hip Hop.”

Again, you can expect their regular musicians in the mix including Raydar Ellis, Marc Cary, Justin Brown, Ben Williams, Ambrose, Saunders Sermon, and Casey Benjamin. Also hoping on board will be guest DJ Ge-ology, John Robinson, and Phonte of Little Brother. Tickets are $10 in advance here along with an RSVP to events@revivedalive.com or $15 at the door.
