In 2006 Wu-Tang played a Valentine’s Day show at Hammerstein Ballroom followed up by two August shows at Webster Hall.  In October 2007 RZA did an intimate solo show at 205 Club for the vLES.com launch.  The show with RZA turned out to be one of the best performances of year (pictured above) in the live NY hiphop scene and immediately other promoters started booking RZA to do his thing at their parties as well.  Since then the Wu has toured again but none of the 2008 concerts included RZA.  Even their show next week at Irving Plaza isn’t that appealing knowing you’ll be getting a RZA-less Wu.  Its a sad situation but you saw it coming with all the beefing within the clan before the Wu-Tang and Ghostface album releases…which leads to the good news!  RZA will be performing as Bobby Digital at Webster Hall on 06.05.08 edit: correct date is actually in JULY 07.05.08 (exactly a year after GZA & Method Man played there), a show any die-hard Wu-Tang and RZA fan has been waiting for.  It’s been ten years since the classic album was released and judging by the calliber of his smaller scale club shows you know its going to be something crazy on the big stage at Webster Hall.  Maybe the album in full like GZA and Raekwon have been doing?  Who knows… Tickets are $25…go get em, bong bong.
